Meet Jason Golub

Roots and Education

Jason Golub is a father of two, attorney, and solutions-oriented leader with a record of results in strengthening transparency and accountability in business.  He grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, in a single parent household with just him and his mother, living in low-income apartments and attending public school up until high school.

After earning a scholarship to the Hopkins School, and being surrounded by wealth and privilege that he did not share in, Jason learned the power and importance of providing opportunities for all students, irrespective of economic means as well as the power of a great education. He went on to study political science at Connecticut College and was later accepted to Columbia Law School with the goal of becoming a human rights lawyer.

Experience and Purpose

Upon finishing his studies and a fellowship experience with a non-profit organization in Turkey, Jason returned to New York City to work at a big law firm where his practice focused on government investigations of securities fraud and insider trading. He found passion in his pro bono work, where he represented political asylum seekers and a man wrongfully convicted of murder through the Innocence Project.

Jason then moved to Saratoga Springs after accepting a job as a compliance executive at General Electric where he led high risk anti-corruption investigations, workplace culture, and became the Chief Compliance Officer for GE Power, managing a team across the globe focused on identifying and responding to risk across the enterprise. He later left GE to join Walker & Dunlop as their Chief Diversity Inclusion Officer where he was responsible for building out a comprehensive strategy to make them the premiere diversity and inclusion company.

Jason has developed comprehensive and community-centered strategies to bring people together and improve work environments, and he’s now working with an educational technology startup that supports women executives.

A Leader in the Community

Establishing himself as a leader in the Saratoga Springs community, Jason co-chaired the Police Reform and Re-Imagination Task Force and helped lead a team of community members to make recommendations to strengthen public safety and equality.

In May, Jason was recommended by an independent committee and unanimously appointed to serve as acting Commissioner of Public Works.  He has maintained staff continuity in the office while improving efficiency and outreach with a focus on service first.

Jason is running in the November special election to complete the term and continue his service-first approach to implement bold, innovative solutions that improve quality of life for every resident in Saratoga Springs.
